Don’t follow your passion

This video from American Conservative free online course provider PragerU has been trending because of the discussion it can spark around “passion vs opportunity” when pursuing career choices.

I think the heavy handed advice is too earnest and without nuance but there’s a common idea which I think, at least secretly, a lot of CEIAG professionals would agree with to some level in that clients shouldn’t blindly follow their passion. Opportunity and realism will play a part at some point.

Like I say, the channel is not something I would personally recommend as some of their other videos dispute climate change, promote only traditional marriage and lobby against a minimum wage and stick closely to the views of the Conservative talk show host founder, Dennis Prager but this one alone is an alternative take on Career Advice and the final note of “taking your passion with you” is a admirable goal.
